Grid Sampling

Grid sampling (also known as soil sampling) is the process of collecting samples of soil strategically to reveal how the soil nutrients differ within a single field. Ultimately, this allows you to gain a better understanding of what chemicals/fertilizers your field needs and where exactly to distribute them. Grid size is dependent on the amount of variability that you think is in the field.

Once the information from the grid sampling comes back, a variable rate map is created based on the results. This will show a breakdown in each grid of what chemical/fertilizer is needed based upon what the soil in that grid is lacking.

Making educated decisions on the amount of products to place in your field allows the producer to not only increase potential yield, but also not over-spend on unnecessary chemical/fertilizer.
